On Sunday 8th of January 2017 was a celebration day for the faithful of Mary Immaculate Conception Parish, Kifaru, Same. It was a Family Day, all members of the Kifaru family gathered together to thank the God Almighty for the wonderful gift of Catholic faith & family.
Celebration began with the Holy Eucharist celebrated by Rev. Fr. Philip from Moshi Diocese. Fr. Alwyn. Fr. Victor, Fr. Hilary & Fr. Jason were concelebrants. Fr. Philip gave a thought provoking homily and spoke on the importance of faith, love and sacrifices among the members in the family. During the mass all couples were called to the alter and priests prayed over them.
After the mass, snacks & cold drinks were served to the gathering. After the short break celebration began with the welcome by Parish Priest Rev. Fr. Hilary Lobo. Mr. Kongo was the guest of honour for the function. Mr. Maro parish chairman distributed the prizes to the toppers in the annual catechism examination and addressed the gathering. Mr. Kongo distributed the prizes for toppers in attendance for the catechism class and daily mass. Fr. Alwyn distributed the prizes for top 10 winners of Bible Quiz. While addressing the gathering he stressed on the importance of family life and motivated them for the timely sacraments.
During the program all couples were called to honour each other. Around 30 couples came forward and express their love for each other by honouring with garland. All the substations gave the cultural program along with children and youth. Many games were conducted for children as well as elders. At the end Mrs. Tarimu, Parish council secretary proposed the vote of thanks. After the program grand meal was served to all. Around 300 parishioners were gathered for the program. Mr. Willhard & Ms. Debora compered the program.
