Aug 12, 2017: The long awaited St Joseph Agricultural Project began after clearing the bushes on 10th August 2017 on the feast of St Lawrence. The tilling activities started on August 11, 2017 by using two tractors. The aim of developing the 50 acres of farm land is to empower the youth and the farmers in scientific agriculture.
This will enable the people to achieve a much needed food security in this semi arid sub Sahara region of Tanzania, East Africa. The SMAM agriculture team members (Mr. Prashanth, Ms Deborah, Ms Janet, Mr. Michael, Mr. George) under the guidance of Mr. Kimaro the Agriculture Extension Officer of Kileo village, have began the first phase of the work. The SMAM team is very grateful to Episcopal Conference of Italy (ECI) for partnering in this project.
