SAME, Tanzania Dec 22, 2017: Immaculate Conception of Mary Church, Kifaru parish in the diocese of Same organized two days ecumenical Christmas celebration and prayer for world peace in Kivulini village on 20th December 2017 and in Kituri village on 21st December 2017.

Rev Fr Benedict Cherumbe the parish priest of Usangi parish, Shehe Marupha the Imam of Islam religion, and village leaders of respective villages were chief guests of the program.

Rev Fr Hilary Lobo the parish priest and the president of the program welcomed the gathering and honoured the chief guests. Rev Fr Cherumbe, in his speech said that Jesus Christ came to this world to bring peace and unity and we have to pray to God in the words of St Francis of Assisi make me a channel of peace and work for unity. Imam Marupha said that Islam promotes peace and unity not violence. Mr. Bonaventure Maro expressed sentiments of gratitude for the success of the program.

The Kifaru parishners played the Biblical drama of prodigal son, which was contextualized and written by Rev Fr Victor Machado, and directed and organized by Rev Fr Jason Lobo. The Kifaru parish choir added the beauty to the program by singing the Christmas carols. Ms. Deborah anchored the program and conducted games to the children.

The whole program was organized by SMA members Rev Frs, Hilary Lobo, Victor Machado, Jason Lobo, Br Lanson Pinto, Mr. Prashanth Dsouza, under the leadership of Rev Fr Alwyn Dsouza.
