On the 21st of March 2019, Bishop Rev. Dr. Peter Paul Saldanha visited St. Joseph Farm, Kwanyange, Tanzania. On his maiden visit he blessed a series of activities at the farm. Rev. Fr. Vinecnt Monteiro, Fr. Alwyn M. J. D’Souza, Fr Victor Machado, Fr Hilary Lobo accompanied the bishop.
St. Joseph Farm is one of the mission activities of SMA Mission. St. Joseph Farm is land of 50 acres and SMA Mission has started the agricultural and Animal Husbandry activities since 2016. Through STJ Farm , they could reach out the villagers and farmers of 9 villages where the SMA Mission is located and conduct the socio economic activities.
On arrival to farm Bishop and other priests were welcomed with garland by the farm staff. In the beginning bishop conducted prayer service and blessed the Cross erected at the entrance of the Farm. Bishop Blessed the Farm Staff house, Sisters Residence, Cattle Yard, Nursery Plantation, Azola Plantation tanks, New Bore Holes and the newly constructed Organic Piggery Farm & Feed Unit.
After the blessing ceremony, in the small formal gathering, Farm Manager Mr. Prashanth D’Souza welcomed all the guests and dignitaries and introduced the farm staff members to the gathering. During the program bishop was honored with shawl by Farm Director Rev. Fr. Alwyn M. J. D’Souza and Fr. Vincent was honored by Fr. Victor. Then Fr. Alwyn gave the brief introduction about the farm activities and the new venture of Korean model organic piggery farming. During the bishops address he congratulated the farm team for the efforts they have put in and the result obtained. He urged all to cooperate in the noble work of God. He appreciated the village secretary for the constant collaboration with farm for the mutual benefits and he prayed over everyone and blessed them. At the end Sr. Leocardia proposed vote of thanks.
