On 16th of November 2019, the Form IV students of St. Joseph Boy’s Science Secondary School visited SJS organic for a day long training program in various aspects of organic farming. Program began with prayer service in the morning and farm director Rev. Fr. Alwyn M. J. D’Souza welcomed the students to SJS.
Mr. Martin Mhando SJS farm technical officer and trainer took the students for farm tour while showing different activities of SJS organic farm. After the tea break he took the session on Ecological farming, Farming God’s Way, Mulch culture, Organic livestock, Fish farming, Bio-pesticides and repellents, organic manure preparation & rural technology. Later SJS manager Mr. Prashanth D’Souza took sessions on EM technology & Korean model deep pit swine farming. Students were happy to learn various dynamics of organic farming and livestock keeping. Some students decided to attend longer training and to conduct research on organic farming. Hostel director Fr. George Crasta organized the program and logistics. Students thanked SJS farm management & staff members for a meaningful training with full of knowledge.
